Chairman of the Appeal Panel, ABDUL MAHMUD, said the committee was established to independently review complaints arising from the screening conducted over the weekend by the party’s Screening Committee.
He stated that consultations were held with northern political leaders to identify a credible and capable partner committed to national development, and PETER OBI emerged as the preferred choice because of his leadership qualities and perceived integrity.
Meanwhile, the party in a statement issued by its state Publicity Secretary, CHIBIKE IKENGA, directed aggrieved aspirants to submit any appeals arising from the screening outcome through the party secretariat.
The forum made the call at the end of an emergency meeting held in Abuja, where its leaders stressed the need to preserve political stability and democratic traditions in the country.
He insisted that the ruling has effectively halted what he termed a coordinated political takeover.
Reaffirming its inclusive policy, the party said it welcomes all Nigerians willing to participate in politics to join and contest elections on its platform, while expressing appreciation for the level of support it has garnered within a short period since its formation.
ATIKU urged lawmakers to subject the proposal to thorough scrutiny before granting approval, stressing that infrastructure development should not come at the expense of fiscal responsibility.
NINGI identified states such as Borno State, Plateau State, Bauchi State, Benue State, Niger State, Sokoto State, Kebbi State, and parts of Kano State as areas most impacted by insecurity, urging his colleagues in the National Assembly to demonstrate greater resolve in tackling insecurity and fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities.
The resignation follows earlier reports that ADELABU had secured approval from the President to step down and contest the Oyo State governorship election.
