Nigerian rapper Phenom (Ikechukwu Clarence) has opened up about his past struggles with heartbreak, extreme promiscuity, contracting health complications, and his decade-long journey of faith and celibacy prior to marriage.

In a deeply candid disclosure, Nigerian hip-hop artist Phenom (real name Ikechukwu Clarence) has shared details of a turbulent personal journey marked by heartbreak, health struggles, and eventual spiritual transformation.

Speaking on his past, the rapper revealed how a painful relationship breakup pushed him into a period of extreme promiscuity, during which he slept with as many as 200 women a year for two consecutive years.

“I Didn’t Even Have Peace of Mind”

Phenom explained that the lifestyle quickly took a heavy physical and mental toll on him. During those two years, he contracted gonorrhea eight times—to the point where he could self-diagnose the condition before consulting pharmacists.

“It was one heartbreak, actually, that made me just go crazy. It was 200 girls in a year at the time. So I did that for like two years straight… In two years, I had gonorrhea eight times. It was so bad that when I went to the pharmacist, I’d tell them I have gonorrhea. They’d say, ‘How did you know?’ I could diagnose myself,” Phenom shared.

He added that the constant health scares caused him intense anxiety, living in constant fear of contracting severe long-term illnesses whenever he experienced minor symptoms like a sneeze.

Turning to Faith and Embracing 10 Years of Celibacy

The turning point came when a mentor advised him that achieving true purpose required letting go of destructive habits. This conversation led him to embrace Christianity and fundamentally restructure his lifestyle, which included giving up smoking, alcohol, and reckless behavior.

Following his spiritual rebirth, Phenom committed to a long period of celibacy that spanned nearly ten years.

Having recently tied the knot in 2026, the rapper confirmed that he maintained strict personal discipline and waited until his wedding night to engage in physical intimacy with his wife.
