Rema’s global impact continues to soar as the remix of his track “Calm Down,” featuring Selena Gomez, secured the 12th position as the most streamed song worldwide on Apple Music. The chart rankings are based on plays recorded between November 1, 2022, and October 31, 2023.
At the top of the global chart, country music star Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” claimed the lead, followed by Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” in second place and SZA’s “K ill Bill” in third. Other notable entries in the top 10 included Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex,” SZA’s “Snooze,” Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero,” Yoasobi’s “Idol,” Chris Brown’s “Under the Influence,” Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage’s “Creepin’,” and Official Hige Dandism’s “Subtitle.”
“Calm Down” positioned itself just above Drake and 21 Savage’s “Spin Bout U” in 11th place. Apple Music acknowledged the success of “Calm Down” as a testament to the global embrace of Afrobeats by listeners worldwide. Notably, all the top 10 most streamed songs on Apple Music by Ghanaians in the past 12 months were Nigerian hits, indicating the widespread influence of Afrobeats. Kenya’s top 10 chart also reflected this dominance with a majority of Afrobeats songs.
Additionally, Tems, another Nigerian artist, made her mark in the global top 100 chart for her contribution to “Wait For U” by American rapper Future, featuring Drake, securing the 17th spot.
