The international and Spanish football communities are in deep mourning following the tragic death of Jesús de Miguel Alameda, a 30-year-old striker for LaLiga HyperMotion (Spanish Second Division) club CD Tenerife.

The forward passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital in Tenerife, just hours after suffering an on-field cardiac arrest triggered by a severe collision during a league fixture.

Details of the On-Field Incident

The tragic event occurred during the closing minutes of Tenerife’s LaLiga HyperMotion match against FC Andorra at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López on Monday evening, November 2, 2026:

  • The Collision: In the 7th minute of stoppage time with the score tied 2–2, De Miguel was contesting a long clearance in midfield. FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono rushed well outside his penalty box to clear the ball and struck De Miguel in the chest with his knee.

  • Immediate Response: De Miguel collapsed to the pitch immediately, prompting frantic calls from players of both sides for emergency medical aid. Referee Dani Martín issued Owono a straight red card for the dangerous challenge.

  • Pitchside Care & Abandonment: Medical personnel administered CPR and emergency care on the pitch for over five minutes. The match was officially abandoned by the referee following the emergency.

  • Hospitalization: De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest while being transported via ambulance to Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital. Although paramedics resuscitated him in transit and his condition was initially stabilized, his neurological state severely deteriorated overnight.

CD Tenerife confirmed De Miguel’s tragic passing early Tuesday morning with an emotional public statement:
