President Bola Tinubu has expressed delight about the re-opening of the Warri refinery after years of rehabilitation.
Earlier, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, yesterday announced that the 125,000 barrel per day Warri Refinery has restarted operation.
Reacting, president Tinubu through his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga described the reopening of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company as another significant achievement in 2024 which he said has reinforced Nigerians’ hope and confidence in his administration.
Tinubu revealed that 125,000 barrel per day Warri Refinery now operating at 60 percent capacity, will focus on producing and storing critical products, including straight-run kerosene, SRK, automotive gas oil, AGO, and heavy and light naphtha.
He praised Kyari and his team at NNPCL for working hard to restore its national pride and make Nigeria a hub for crude oil refining in Africa, and further urged NNPCL to accelerate repair works on the Kaduna Refinery and the 150,000 barrel per day second refinery in Port Harcourt to consolidate Nigeria’s position as a global energy provider.
