Nigeria continued their domination at the ongoing Para-powerlifting in Cairo, Egypt, after Loveline Obiji came clutch on her last attempt in Women’s over 86kilograms, lifting 145kg to usurp her Egyptian counterpart for the gold medal while in Women’s up to 67kg, Nigeria’s Lucy Ejike won a Silver medal and increased the country’s haul to 11 overall.

Onyinyechi Mark is now the new World Record holder in women’s -61kg event, surpassing Lucy Ejike’s Wr of 142kg, and lifting a new one of 143kg to clinch gold for Nigeria.

Earlier Esther Nworgu posted a huge performance as her 114kg lift set a new world record in the women’s up to 41kg class, with Latifat Tijani maintaining the win for Nigeria with an African record lift of 113kg to win the women’s up to 45kg class on Day Two.

Kafila Almaruf also set an African record with a 145kg lift in the women’s up to 73kg class and her teammate Folashade Oluwafemiayo won her second African Championship title in a row with a 150kg lift in the women’s up to 86kg event.

After Day 3 of the Cairo2022 African Championships, Team Nigeria have now won an overall tally of eight gold and three silver medals.
