Gunmen Kill Five Security Personnel and Two Others in Anambra State.

Gunmen yesterday killed seven people at Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that out of the seven individuals killed, two were unarmed civilians who were in a compound planning a burial ceremony that was scheduled to hold on January 2, 2025, while the others were security personnel.

The incident was confirmed in a press release issued by the commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, through his spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealing that the incident which according to eye witnesses interviewed at the scene, occurred around 11:20 am yesterday when armed men began shooting sporadically at burial planners who were preparing for a forthcoming burial ceremony and led to the deaths of seven people, including two unarmed bystanders.

He said its Joint Security Team rescued one of the victims who is currently responding to treatment in a hospital.

The commissioner sympathized with families and friends of the victims, particularly the good people of Ihiala over the sad incident, assuring them that the perpetrators will be apprehended.
