Gunmen today attacked a police station in Atani the headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The Gunmen arrived the area at about 1:30am today and immediately launched an attack on the police facility, killing four policemen, including a female police operative during the attack.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command DSP, Tochukwu Ikenga who confirmed the attack during a telephone conversation said it was unfortunate that four police operatives lost their lives while fighting the hoodlums.
Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng on hearing of the attack immediately mobilized men of the command from various units to the area, adding the timely arrival of the security operatives saved the day and the hoodlums were successfully repelled, and the facility was saved.
The police spokesperson however maintained that investigations have commenced in other to unravel the persons behind the attack.
