GOVERNOR UGWUANYI RESTATES COMMITMENT TOWARDS ENDING ALL FORMS OF CHILD LABOR ISSUES

The Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has reiterated that the state government is ever ready to eliminate all forms of Child Labor issue in the society, which is inspired by the great work the Ministry of Gender Affairs and Social Services is doing in the state.


The Secretary to the State Government SSG Professor Uchenna Ortuanya who stated this on behalf of the governor, when he received the committee on a courtesy visit to government house, said that the State has identified with all the international conventions, treaty and other acts of discrimination against women, and domestic violence.


Ortuanya assured the committee that the current administration is willing to support them and key into the policy plan for the elimination of all forms of child labor in the state.

In the course of the visit, the State Controller and Zonal Director Federal Ministry of Labor Enugu, Chuka Umunna lauded the Government of Enugu State for being one of the first states that enacted child right act, stating that Enugu state government is proactive on the issues of Child Labor.


He added that there was need for the committee to partner with the state government and other stakeholders in the fight against child labor.

Urban Radio Correspondent, Ifeyinwa Ogbue who was also at the Government house, said that members of the Committee on Child Labor, included the Commissioner For Education Uche Eze, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information Steve Oruruo, amongst others.
