Former Lawmaker Laments over Dreadful Effect of Flood in Anambra State.

A former lawmaker, who represented Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in Anambra State Afam Ogene, has lamented over the devastating effect of floods in areas like OGWU Ikpele, Akili Ogidi, Obeagwe, Ossomala, Umunankwo, Ogbakuba, Ochuche, Akili Ozizor, Atani, Ohita And Odekpe, Amiyi, Iyiowa, Ogbeukwu, Okoti and parts of Okpoko.

Ogene, a candidate of the Labor Party LP for House of Representatives in the 2023 election, said the area has been submerged by flood, calling on the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA and State Emergency Management Agency SEMA, to intervene and rescue Ogbaru people from the disaster.

He said, the human and environmental conditions are absolutely pathetic and require urgent action from the government in order to alleviate the sufferings of the downcast victims, most of whom have lost all their belongings to the flood disaster.

He also called on the Government of Anambra State to liaise with the Transition Committee Chairman, Paschal Aniegbuna, and President Generals of Ogbaru communities, to coordinate relief efforts to ensure that they are prudently and transparently distributed in the best interest of the victims.
