FEC APPROVES 4 BILLION NAIRA TO BUILD BARRACKS FOR NDLEA

A sum of four billion naira has been approved by the Federal Executive Council Fec for the construction of barracks to accommodate the personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Ndlea.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN who disclosed this in a briefing with newsmen, said the project became necessary because of the threats and attacks on personnel, officers, men, and other ranks of the agency because of the level of success they have recorded in recent times.

He said within the three months of 2023, about 18,940 arrests were made by the Ndlea, drugs with an estimated value of over 40 billion naira were confiscated, and about 2,904 convictions were recorded. 

Malami revealed that two contracts were awarded to two companies to carry out the project, adding that the blocks of flats, cost 2.2 billion Naira to the first contractor and the sum of 2.8 billion Naira to the second contractor.
