PRESIDENT TINUBU UNVEILS MEASURES TO CURB HIGH COST OF LIVING AS NIGERIA MARKS 66TH INDEPENDENCE

As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence anniversary, President BOLA TINUBU has introduced measures to reduce high cost of food and transportation across the country.

President TINUBU made the disclosure during his Independence Day address to citizens of Nigeria, noting that his administration’s economic agenda will focus on delivering shared prosperity and easing the pressure on households, which they aim to achieve by lowering production  and distribution cost.

The President highlighted measures including expanding mechanized irrigation, increase in dry-season farming, improving access to seeds and fertilizer, storage and transportation investment, which according to him will help boost food production and reduce losses.

He added that the measures will reduce the high cost of living as it will reduce the price of commodities in the market and make farming and transportation more efficient.

The President also acknowledged the severe hardship millions of Nigerians face in the country, and promised that the government would strengthen support for vulnerable households while pursuing measures to create sustainable economic opportunities.
