In his pursuit of musical brilliance, Davido has unquestionably attained a stunning variety of accomplishments throughout the course of his career. But there’s still one thing he needs to do for his supporters right now: get on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Given that the United States is the music industry’s worldwide hub and that the Billboard Hot 100 serves as the standard for measuring success on a global scale, this specific achievement could be significant. This tendency has been particularly noticeable among African musicians, notably those from Nigeria, who have grown to consider a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as a clear indicator of their level of accomplishment on the global stage. Artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, CKay, Tems, Fireboy DML, Amaarae, and Libianca, among others, have achieved the remarkable feat of securing placements on the Billboard Hot 100, amplifying their global recognition.
Davido’s discography is unusual for its lack of a Billboard Hot 100 inclusion, which has led some to reflect on the current course of his career. It is only logical to assume that this exclusion is simply a transitory condition of affairs given his extraordinary abilities and unrelenting devotion. With songs that have resonated with listeners all around the world and tunes that have travelled over enormous geographic landscapes, Davido’s most recent album, Timeless, is clearly the apex of his artistic career. Despite this universal popularity, the initiative has found it difficult to break into the coveted American market. However, Davido has an exceptionally outstanding track record in the US, having previously received RIAA platinum and gold certifications for the chart-topping singles “If” and “Fall,” respectively.
Davido has taken a determined measure to close this gap and broaden the appeal of his music to the American market: he has published a remix of his popular song, “Unavailable,” a highlight piece from his Timeless album. While keeping the soulful vocals of South African singer Musa Keys, this remix is notable for the contribution of American rapper Latto. The co-production skills of Magicsticks and Rage were utilised in a joint effort to expertly build the sonic environment of this remix.
This remix, latent with anticipation, skilfully infuses the already engaging music with Latto’s distinctive charm, adding a unique depth. The goal of this cooperation is to combine Latto’s distinctive style with the vivid and rich flavours of Afrobeats, producing a combination that may resonate with a variety of audiences while yet being musically captivating. Davido hopes to further promote Unavailable to American listeners with this remix, utilising the power of cross-cultural cooperation to maybe break into the enormous market.
