The Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Enugu State Chidi Nwafor has reiterated the preparedness of the Commission to deliver a credible, free, and fair election in the 2023 General Election.
Nwafor who gave this assurance at an interactive session on the 2023 General Election with traditional rulers in Enugu State, held at the Commission’s headquarters used the forum to appeal to royal fathers to use their offices to sensitize their subjects on the 2022 electoral laws that would guarantee peace and violent free elections.
Speaking further on the essence of the interactive session the head of voter education at INEC Enugu, REX Achime explained that the meeting was convened to provide a platform to enable the electoral body and the royal fathers to exchange ideas on the best ways to avoid violence before, during and after the elections.
Speaking on behalf of the royal fathers at the meeting, the Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Ruler’s Council, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu who disclosed that royal fathers in the State have been holding meetings with their subjects appealed to INEC to assist them in the areas of logistics for further sensitizations of the people.
Urban Radio Correspondent, Emeka Chibuoke said that the interactive session was one of the several such sessions organized by the electoral umpire towards the successful conduct of the 2023 election; adding that it was attended by royal fathers from the three senatorial zones of the State.
