A female Iranian climber said she competed with her hair uncovered because her hijab fell off involuntarily.

A female Iranian climber Elnaz Rekabi, who competed with her hair uncovered said she did so because her hijab fell off involuntarily.

33-year-old Rekabi was praised by those protesting against Iran’s dress code after a video showed her violating it at an Asian Championships in South Korea on her Instagram account.

The Instagram post yesterday apologized for getting everybody worried and said she was flying home.

She said due to bad timing, and the unanticipated call for her to climb the wall, her head covering inadvertently came off, adding that she was on her way back to Iran alongside the team based on the pre-arranged schedule.
