In a historic milestone for African capital markets, Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced that its ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) has achieved massive global participation, receiving subscriptions from retail and institutional investors across more than 90 countries worldwide, including 51 of Africa’s 54 nations.

The surging demand reflects overwhelming international market confidence in Africa’s largest industrial enterprise and its strategic role in driving regional energy security.

₦2.15 Trillion Offer Nears Final Closing Window

The public offer, which involves 4.1 billion Ordinary Shares priced at ₦525 per share, targets gross proceeds of ₦2.15 trillion.

To accommodate the high volume of incoming applications from both local and foreign investors across multiple time zones, the application deadline was extended by 14 days, setting the official closing date for Monday, October 27, 2026.

Explosive Financial Growth & Strong Refining Margins

The surge in investor participation follows impressive financial updates disclosed by the company for the nine-month period ending September 30, 2026:

  • Revenue Surge: Revenue jumped by 144% to $22.5 billion, driven by expanding domestic fuel deliveries and regional product exports.

  • Profitability: Net profit swung sharply to $4.7 billion, reversing a $117.2 million loss recorded during the initial ramp-up phase in 2025.

  • Operating Cash Flow: Surged to $3.68 billion, highlighting strong operational efficiency and high gross refining margins exceeding $30 per barrel.

  • Robust Balance Sheet: The refinery transitioned into a positive $651 million net cash position, down from a net debt burden of $1.73 billion in late 2025.

Strategic Vision: Scaling to 1.4 Million Barrels Per Day

Management confirmed that the capital raised through the IPO will be utilized to part-fund the next phase of the refinery’s long-term expansion plan. The company aims to double its processing capacity from its current 700,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2029.

“The overwhelming response from investors across 51 African countries and over 90 nations globally is a resounding vote of confidence in Africa’s future and in the capability of world-class African enterprises to deliver sustainable value for shareholders,” the company stated.

Investment analysts at Renaissance Capital recently upgraded the company’s valuation, citing stronger-than-expected refining margins and robust cash generation as key drivers for long-term shareholder returns.
