National Commandant Professor Dickson Akoh has on behalf of the Peace Corps Council declared that the officers and men of the Peace Corps of Nigeria have extended gratitude to the leadership and entire members of the 9th National Assembly for extraordinary and unanimous support given to the organization all through the legislative processes leading to the eventual passage of the Nigerian Peace corps bill.
The commandant expressed his appreciation at a press briefing held in Abuja on the passage of the bill for an act to establish the Nigeria Peace Corps and its transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.
Professor Akoh said the overwhelming support accorded the bill by the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives is highly recognized and celebrated by all bonafide members of the corps.
He said the passage of the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill was not only timely but an assurance to the Nigerian youths that the political elites are still very much conscious of the social challenges confronting them and therefore proffering solutions to them.
He appealed to Buhari to assent to the bill which will no doubt give positive credence to his concern for the plight of the youth nationwide adding that assenting to the bill would be a deserving farewell gift to the youth of the nation for which posterity will always reckon with him on the right side of history.
To this development, the Commandant Peace Corps of Nigeria Enugu State Command Patriot Wilfred Ndubuisi Alor admonishes officers who are yet to update their status with the Corps to do so and participate in the mandatory physical verification exercise for all Officers.
