Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL side Plateau United yesterday evening secured a 4-1 win over Al Akhdar of Libya in their first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs played at the Mko Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
The Jos side became the second Nigeria side to earn a victory against a Libyan side after NPFL champions Rivers United defeated Al Nasr 5-0 earlier yesterday ahead of the reverse fixture in Libya on the 9th of November.
Plateau United’s early efforts to get early goals paid off when Mustapha Yuga opened the scoring in the 27th minute and Ifeanyi Emmanuel added the second goal just before halftime.
Albert Hillary coming from the bench netted the third goal in the 53rd minute, while Al Akhdar got one in the 85th minute before Hillary completed his brace in the 90th minute to improve his side’s lead.
