WAEC APPOINTS SULEIMAN KUM AS NEW HEAD OF NIGERIA NATIONAL OFFICE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially appointed Mr. Suleiman Danlami Kum as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office (HNO).

According to an official statement issued by WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, Kum takes over from Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, who was recently elevated to the position of Registrar and CEO of the international council.

Kum brings over 26 years of institutional experience to the role, having joined the examination body in July 1998 as Assistant Registrar II. He rose through the ranks to become Senior Deputy Registrar in 2024 and previously served in key operational roles across exam security, zonal administration, and test management.

During his career at WAEC, Kum led crucial modernizations, including the deployment of facial-recognition biometric devices for exam verification and the rollout of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) formats for achievement exams.

Hailing from Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Kum holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
