Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup suffered another setback following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

The Super Eagles, who had defeated Rwanda 2-0 last Friday had hoped to replicate that yesterday but ERIC CHELLE’S men were said to be wasteful in front of goals despite creating several chances.

VICTOR OSIMHEN eventually put Nigeria ahead in the 73rd minute, heading home after fine combination play between TOLU AROKODARE and OLA AINA, but the visitors stunned the home supporters with a last-minute equaliser in the 90th minute.

The result leaves Nigeria in fourth place with seven points, one behind Benin Republic and Lesotho.
