PRESIDENT TINUBU REMOVES UNIVERSITY VICE CHANCELLORS AND APPOINTS REPLACEMENTS

President BOLA TINUBU has revealed leadership adjustments at various federal universities, including the University of Abuja, which is now renamed Yakubu Gowon University.

This was made known yesterday by hisspokesperson, BAYO ONANUGA, stating that the entire governing council at the Yakubu Gowon University, has been dissolved, while AISHA MAIKUDI has been relieved of her duties as Vice-Chancellor.

LANRE TEJUOSO, currently Pro-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has been appointed Pro-Chancellor of the Yakubu Gowon University, and he will be succeeded in Makurdi by JOY EMORDI, now pro-chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education.

The President has also removed Professor POLYCARP CHIGBU from his position as Acting Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, before his tenure ends on February 14, and appointed Professor OGUEJIOFU UJAM as his successor for six months and will not be eligible to apply for the permanent position.

TINUBU emphasized that these changes reflect his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and academic excellence within Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
