The Nigeria Police Force has challenged social media activist MARTINS OTSE , popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), to provide evidence to support claims that the police  aid kidnapping of travellers on the road through information provided to them.

A statement issued by the Force  Public Relations Officer, ANI INIESU, follows VDM’s alleged  comment at the  recent Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Conference in Port Harcourt noting that that some police officers manning checkpoints along major highways relay information about travellers to kidnappers and bandit.

INIESU firmly rejected the allegations, reiterating that  police personnel deployed to checkpoints and other locations nationwide were there to prevent crime, detect criminal activities and protect citizens, rather than facilitate kidnapping.

Adding that personnel had been ambushed, attacked and killed in duty, while stations, formations and operational assets had also been targeted by terrorists, kidnappers and other criminals element,

The force highlighted the seriousness of the allegations and requested evidence from VDM to back up his claims which according to them has  not been  provided.
