ONE INJURED AS SUSPECTED IED EXPLODES IN LAGOS MARKET AREA

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed an explosion believed to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the Shoe Materials Market in Mushin, Lagos, leaving one person injured.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, FATAI TIJANI, who disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the scene of the incident, revealed that the suspected explosive device had been concealed beneath the passenger side of a vehicle and detonated when the vehicle was started.

The police chief confirmed that one person sustained injuries during the incident and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, but he is currently in stable condition.

He urged residents, traders and members of the public to remain calm, assuring them that the situation had been brought under control and that there was no immediate threat to public safety.
