The Federal Government and the Republic of Türkiye have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation in the solid minerals sector, in a move described as a major milestone in expanding economic ties between both nations.
A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, DELE ALAKE, LARA OWOEYE-WISE, said the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit, INRES, held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Minister said Nigeria is prepared to benefit from Türkiye’s technological expertise and advancement in mining exploration, training, digitisation, licensing systems, and capacity building to drive reforms and growth in the sector.
The minister, who also chairs the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, AMSG, said President BOLA TINUBU has given full backing to efforts aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with Türkiye, noting that reforms introduced in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector within the last three years have improved the operating environment and increased the sector’s appeal to genuine investors.
He further explained that the Federal Government has introduced wide-ranging measures to sanitise the sector, enhance ease of doing business, and provide incentives for foreign investors interested in establishing long-term partnerships in Nigeria.
