The traditional ruler of Agunesse Mmaku, Igwe Maduabuchi Nevobasi, has condemned in strongest terms, the dehumanizing treatment of a poor widow, by the youths of Agunese Affam-Mmaku Autonomous Community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Recall that on the 28th of October, a widow received jungle justice for collecting snails from a sacred site which caused the boys and men in that village to subject her to a humiliating treatment.
Igwe Nevobasi, during a press briefing yesterday, described the jungle justice by the youths of the community as shameful, stressing that no one has the right to meet out such treatment to any member of the community.
He further added that the perpetrators of such act never consulted the necessary authorities in the community before taking laws into their own hands to disgrace the widow.
While thanking the state government and the Enugu state police command for their prompt response in taking care of the woman, he noted that the perpetrators of the act must be arrested, prosecuted and jailed
