IGP SAYS RECRUITMENT OF 50,000 POLICE CONSTABLES REACHES FINAL PRE-TRAINING STAGE

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), OLATUNJI DISU, has disclosed that preparations for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables have reached the final pre-training stage.

DISU made this known in Washington, D.C., while representing the Nigeria Police Force at the second United States-Nigeria Country of Particular Concern Joint Working Group meeting.

He said comprehensive training programmes were being developed for the recruits, with emphasis on an improved curriculum and international best practices.

The IGP also highlighted ongoing efforts by the Police to tackle kidnapping and banditry, increase security presence in vulnerable communities and strengthen early-warning mechanisms for crime prevention.

DISU further stressed the importance of community engagement, saying collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders was essential in building public trust, promoting religious tolerance and achieving sustainable security in Nigeria.
