HOUSE OF REPS URGES  MINISTRY OF WORKS TO REVIEW LAGOS-CALABAR COASTAL HIGHWAY.

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Ministry of Works to review the proposed realignment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and maintain the project’s original plan.

 The lawmakers expressed concern that changes to the route could affect connectivity and economic development in coastal communities, calling for an independent assessment of the engineering requirements, environmental impact, social consequences and total cost of the project.

As part of its resolutions, the lawmakers asked the Ministry to submit the project’s Environmental Impact Assessment to the relevant committee for review, stressing that the assessment should be carried out before construction work to address concerns surrounding the proposed route changes.
