The deputy spokesman for the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has assured that the 2024 budget will not experience any duplication of projects.
Agbese, who gave the assurance during an interview with newsmen said the 2023 budget estimates will be more thoroughly scrutinized than the usual routine of the past National Assembly, stressing that it would no longer be business-as-usual practices, as every allocated fund will benefit the Nigerian people.
It would be recalled that in 2022, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC revealed that Ministries, Departments, and Agencies MDAs inflated the 2021 budget by 300 billion Naira through the duplication of projects.
The ICPC had also reported that MDAssimilarly padded the 2022 budget with duplicated projects, totaling 100 billion Naira.
