FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DECLARES MAY 1ST AS PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO MARK WORKERS’ DAY

The Federal Government has announced Friday, May 1, 2026, as a public holiday in celebration of International Workers’ Day.

The declaration was made in a statement issued by the Minister of Interior, OLUBUNMI TUNJI-OJO, who praised workers across the country for their dedication and significant contributions to national development.

TUNJI-OJO emphasized that the commitment and resilience of Nigerian workers remain vital to the nation’s growth and prosperity, andencouraged them to continue demonstrating patriotism, productivity, and diligence in their respective roles.

The minister also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing workers’ welfare and security, as well as creating a more supportive environment for economic progress.
