The Enugu State Ministry of Health has intensified the monitoring and supervision of private health facilities across the state to ensure quality healthcare delivery and compliance with regulatory standards.

The renewed exercise, initiated by the Commissioner for Health, Professor GEORGE UGWU, was led by the Director of Medical Services, CHINYERE EZEUDU, who headed a team of senior ministry officials on an unscheduled inspection of private health facilities in Enugu North Local Government Area.

The exercise was aimed at ensuring that all private hospitals and healthcare providers operating in the state comply with statutory requirements, including the renewal of operating licences and the registration of facilities yet to be captured by the relevant regulatory authorities.

During the inspection, the team visited seven private health facilities to assess their operational status, documentation, licensing compliance and adherence to required healthcare standards, while four facilities were sealed for failing to meet the necessary regulatory requirements.

Professor UGWU reaffirmed the commitment of the state government under the leadership of Governor PETER MBAH to safeguarding residents by promoting safe, effective and quality healthcare services, while urging all private health facility operators in the State to regularise their operations by renewing expired licences or registering their facilities where necessary.
