ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT SIGNS MOU WITH PRIVATE FIRM FOR FOOD SECURITY

The Government of Enugu State yesterdaysigned a lease agreement for 15,000 hectares of land with a private firm to cultivate and produce farm products that leverage the state’s comparative advantages, as part of the State Government’s decisive action to ensure food security for the public.

The Governor of the state PETER MBAH, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor CHIDIEBERE ONYIA, signed the memorandum of understanding MOU and reiterated the government’s commitment to responding to the pressing issue of food shortages affecting Nigerian Citizens.

The private firm involved, represented by the CEO, UGWU ANAMA FARM LimitedFRIDAY NNAJI perceives the venture as more than just a means to achieve food security, stating that it also aims to create over 10,000 jobs to contribute to the economic development and Agriculture expansion in the region.

Urban Radio Correspondent IFEYINWA OGBUE reports that the MOU which was signed at the conference room of the Office of the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, was also witnessed by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, MIKE OGBUEKWE.
