Five people including an off-duty police officer have been shot dead with several persons injured in Raleigh, North Carolina. Police say a suspect has been arrested, following the shooting which occurred near the Neuse River Greenway, a popular trail on the outskirts of the state capital. Religious and community leaders in Burkina Faso say the country’s junta leader Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba has agreed to step down, two days after military officers announced he had been removed from power. The leaders in a statement noted that following mediation between Damiba and the new self-proclaimed leader, Ibrahim Traore, “Damiba himself offered his resignation in order to avoid confrontations with serious human and material consequences.
