The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has published the list of aspirants cleared and disqualified ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, a total of 33 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, while 65 others failed to scale through the screening process.
Among those disqualified are 32 aspirants reportedly aligned with the political camp of Rivers State Governor, SIMINALAYI FUBARA, while serving members of the Rivers State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, NYESOM WIKE, were cleared to contest in the exercise.
The screening committee explained that several infractions led to the disqualification of affected aspirants including; nomination by party members who were not financially up to date as required under Article 9.3 of the APC Constitution, alleged inducement and attempted bribery of screening committee members, submission of unsworn affidavits, and failure to provide valid voter cards or party membership slips.
Meanwhile, the party in a statement issued by its state Publicity Secretary, CHIBIKE IKENGA, directed aggrieved aspirants to submit any appeals arising from the screening outcome through the party secretariat.
