The lawmaker representing Edo North senatorial district, ADAMS OSHIOMHOLEhas alleged that the daughter of Senate President, GODSWILL AKPABIO was appointed to a high-profile position in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) without undergoing the standard recruitment process.

Speaking on a Podcast, OSHIOMHOLEdefended his stance on the Senate’s handling of issues involving the NNPC and the bench warrant issued against former NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer, MELE KYARI, claiming that KYARI facilitated the appointment of AKPABIO’S daughter, which he said  did not follow the normal procedures required for recruitment into the national oil company.

OSHIOMHOLE further alleged that nepotism has become widespread within the NNPC, accusing both former and current officials of securing employment opportunities for relatives, including children, cousins, in-laws and other family members.

He maintained that relatives of public officials have the right to work in the NNPC only if they meet the required standards and are recruited transparently.

He also addressed criticism over the Senate’s reported disowning of the arrest warrant issued against KYARI, insisting that the legislative action was within the powers granted to the National Assembly under the Constitution.
