The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Enugu State Command has warned petroleum products marketers in the State who hike their pump price of petrol above the official pump price or hoard the product for selfish reasons to desist from such.

While sympathizing with the citizenry on the hardship occasioned by the artificial scarcity of petroleum products in the State, the NSCDC State Commandant, Afrika Ezenyimulu, said the corps Anti Petroleum products Vandalism and Theft Squad have been charged to go round all petroleum products stations to ensure compliance and also directed the arrest and prosecution of such dealers in a Court of competent Jurisdiction.

The Corps, while calling on Nigerians to exercise patience as the matter is actively being brought under control by the authorities concerned, also charged key players in the industry to exercise restraint and not to jeopardize efforts being made to restore normalcy to the situation.

It also called on members of the public to avoid panic buying and unwholesome storage or handling of the product to avoid fire outbreak and disasters that may lead to loss of lives and property.
