The Federal Government has attributed electricity disruptions in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Kwara and Oyo States to inadequate gas supply, reduced hydroelectric generation and maintenance challenges across the power sector.

The Ministry of Power, in a statement issued in Abuja, said preliminary assessments showed that the outages were not caused by a major failure of the national grid but by operational difficulties affecting power generation and distribution.

However,  the ministry noted that the Minister of Power, JOSEPH TEGBE, was working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Nigerian Independent System Operator and electricity distribution companies to address the challenges and restore normal supply
