PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES, ATIKU AND OBI CONGRATULATE GOVERNOR ADELEKE ON ELECTION VICTORY

Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, and his Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, counterpart, PETER OBI, have congratulated Osun State Governor, ADEMOLA ADELEKE, on his victory in the governorship election following the declaration of the results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The two opposition leaders separately reacted to ADELEKE’s re-election in posts on their X accounts yesterday, commending the people of Osun State and stressing the importance of the election to Nigeria’s democratic process.

ATIKU said ADELEKE’s victory reflected the decision of the Osun electorate at the polls, while commending voters for their enthusiasm and peaceful participation and wishing the governor a successful second term.

In the post on X, OBI said the election demonstrated the capacity of citizens to choose their leaders, adding that ADELEKE’s performance and commitment to the people had earned him renewed confidence from the electorate.

OBI also praised young voters in Osun for remaining vigilant in protecting their democratic mandate and urged Nigerians to remain actively engaged in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections, while calling on political actors to prioritise the interests of Nigerians and uphold peace and the rule of law.
