ZLATKO DALIC STEPS DOWN AS CROATIA’S HEAD COACH

Croatia head coach ZLATKO DALIC has resigned after nine years in charge, less than a week after the team’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in the Round of 32.

In a statement announcing the resignation, the Croatian Football Federation expressed appreciation to DALIC for the victories, achievements, qualification successes, medals, unity, respect and unwavering commitment he demonstrated in serving Croatia both on and off the pitch.

During his tenure, DALIC guided Croatia to a runners-up finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and a third-place finish at the 2022 tournament in Qatar, although the team failed to win a medal at this year’s competition.

Since taking over in 2017, DALIC managed Croatia in 111 matches, recording 62 victories, while also leading the team to a runners-up finish in the 2022–23 UEFA Nations League
