FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SYMPATHIZES WITH  CHINA OVER DEADLY GANSU LANDSLIDE,

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed its condolences to the government and people of the People’s Republic of China following the devastating landslide that struck Tanchang County in Gansu Province, claiming at least 21 lives.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Nigeria sympathises with the victims and their families, describing the tragedy as a painful loss.

The Federal Government also commended the swift response of the Chinese authorities and emergency rescue teams in their efforts to save lives and provide relief to affected communities.

Reaffirming the strong ties between both countries, the ministry noted that Nigeria and China share a long-standing strategic partnership founded on mutual respect, friendship and cooperation and further prayed for the peaceful repose of the victims, the speedy recovery of those injured and strength for the bereaved families.
