Spanish football giants, Real Madrid have confirmed that their 150 million euro offer for JULIAN ALVAREZ has been rejected by city rivals Atletico Madrid.

The development comes shortly after Real Madrid president, FLORENTINO PEREZsecured re-election, having previously pledged to pursue the signing of the player if given another term in office.

In a statement released following a meeting of the club’s Board of Directors, Real Madrid disclosed that an official offer had been submitted for the Argentine forward, but Atletico Madrid declined the proposal, insisting that any transfer would have to meet the conditions of the player’s release clause.

ALVAREZ has emerged as one of the most sought-after forwards in European football following a prolific campaign with Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old striker scored 20 goals in 49 appearances during the season, including 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
