President BOLA TINUBU has urged African nations to strengthen economic integration and adopt policies that will accelerate industrial growth and improve prosperity across the continent.

A  statement issued by presidential spokesperson BAYO ONANUGA, revealed thatthe president made the call yesterday while leading Nigeria’s delegation to the Africa Forward Summit at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, where he stressed the need for Africa to prioritise economic cooperation and industrial development in order to unlock the continent’s full potential and compete effectively in the global economy.

He  identified Nigeria’s blue economy sector as one of the major untapped opportunities capable of driving sustainable growth across Africa,  noting that insecurity and long-standing uncertainty had prevented the sector from reaching its full capacity over the years.

Speaking on migration, Tinubu stressed that tackling the root causes of irregular migration was essential to reducing the growing number of Africans risking dangerous journeys abroad, maintaining that many young people would choose to remain in their home countries if adequate economic opportunities, jobs and stable living conditions were available.

The president further called on international development partners to invest more heavily in climate adaptation programmes, energy access, digital innovation, skills development and industries capable of creating large-scale employment opportunities.
