The lawmaker representing Bauchi Central, ABDUL NINGI has attributed Nigeria’s worsening insecurity to excessive politicking and failures in leadership, admitting that political office holders have not done enough to safeguard citizens.

Speaking during an interview yesterday, NINGIacknowledged that many politicians, including himself, have prioritized political activities over governance and security responsibilities.

He described the situation as a collective failure of leadership, stressing the need for public officials to accept responsibility, as  failing to confront these shortcomings would amount to insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians affected by violence.

Earlier, during plenary, the senator called for urgent and decisive measures to address insecurity, including the possibility of suspending political activities in heavily affected regions and warned that the scale of insecurity in some parts of the country requires extraordinary intervention.

NINGI identified states such as Borno State, Plateau State, Bauchi State, Benue State, Niger State, Sokoto State, Kebbi State, and parts of Kano State as areas most impacted by insecurity,  urging his colleagues in the National Assembly to demonstrate greater resolve in tackling insecurity and fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities.
