ANDRE ONANA and VINCENT ABOUBAKAR have been omitted from Cameroon’s final squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a development that has generated significant debate and surprise among supporters and analysts.

Football analyst, FABRIZIO ROMANOconfirmed that the two players, widely regarded as among the most experienced members of the Indomitable Lions, will not participate in the tournament.

The absence of ONANA, an accomplished goalkeeper with experience at several top European clubs, and ABOUBAKAR, the veteran forward and long-serving captain, is seen as signalling a new direction for the national team under its renewed leadership.

ONANA has also recently fallen out of favour at Manchester United and is currently on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.
