The Super Eagles yesterday refused to trainahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa play-off against Gabon, in protest over unpaid bonuses spanning two years.
According to reports, the players informed head coach ERIC CHELLE that they would not train unless the outstanding bonuses, covering both the qualifying campaigns for the 2025 AFCON and the 2026 World Cup, were settled.
The Super Eagles’ training camp officially opened in Rabat on Monday, with a total of 23 players currently in camp at the team’s Rive Hotel base in Rabat.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had not issued an official statement on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
