NYSC DEFENDS WITHHOLDING CORPS MEMBER’S CERTIFICATE 

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) hasdebunked claims it withheld the certificate of Lagos corps member, USHIE RITA UGUAMAYE, also known as Raye, for being critical of President BOLA TINUBU’Sadministration.

 RAYE, who had made headlines in March after she publicly criticised the present administration over  worsening economic conditions in Nigeria, recently revealed that her certificate has been withheld by the NYSC.

 However, In a statement on X, the service said that contrary to the claims that she was denied a Certificate of National Service (CNS) due to critical remarks about the government,  RAYEwas  disciplined for her absence during the April  2025 clearance, thereby extending her service year by two months. 

 The service explained that such extensions were a standard procedure applied uniformly, with no political motive involved, adding that similar sanctions had long been imposed on corps members who failed to meet clearance obligations.
