Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam has petitioned the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), calling for a ban on the Big Brother Naija reality television show.
Idam argued that the programme should be banned or strictly regulated for promoting obscene, indecent, and profane content, in line with the NBC Act of 1999.
He stated that the show, now in its second week, has been marked by the brazen display of real-time obscene and pornographic acts.
In the past, the NBC has sanctioned or banned several music videos such as “Don’t Stop” by Olamide, “TESOJUE ” by Reminisce, and “TONY MONTANA ” by NAETO C and OLAMIDE on the grounds of promoting public indecency and pornography, despite their popularity with audiences.
