Suspended Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has filed a 30 billion Naira lawsuit against the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas, following the announcement of her suspension on his social media handle.
Halima was suspended indefinitely by the AGN and also prohibited her from participating in any AGN and filming activities, after a detailed report by the Special Secret Investigation Panel, revealed that she was responsible for leaking messy infidelity stories about her colleagues, associates, and patrons, in the Nollywood industry, including claims of extramarital affairs with highly placed individuals.
Reacting, the actress in a letter dated October 20, 2024, by her legal representatives, P.D. Pius and Associates, accused the AGN President of deliberately tarnishing her reputation, stressing that she was never contacted or given a chance to respond to the allegations before the announcement.
Halima further demanded immediate removal of the defamatory publication on Rollas’ Instagram page with unreserved public apology and 30 billion Naira in damages for reputational harm, warning that if the demands were not met within seven days, she would pursue appropriate legal action.
