NAF NEUTRALISES 9 ISWAP FIGHTERS AND SENIOR COMMANDER IN BORNO AIR STRIKE

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has confirmed that 9 Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, fighters, including a senior commander, were killed in an air strike in Borno State.

The operation was conducted on Saturday, August 8, 2026, following intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists within the Sambisa Forest area.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, EHIMEN EJODAME, disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday, saying subsequent intelligence confirmed that 9 ISWAP fighters were killed, including ABU-KHALID AL-MUHAJIR, an ISWAP commander responsible for providing security escorts for senior members of the group.

EJODAME said the strike was preceded by persistent intelligence, surveillance and monitoring operations that enabled the military to track the terrorists to a suspected hideout before carrying out a precision attack.

EJODAME assured that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to conduct intelligence-led air operations in coordination with ground forces to degrade terrorist capabilities, restrict their freedom of movement and improve security for communities affected by insurgency in the North-East.
