Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, for 2023 polls.

Gunmen have attacked officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State resulting in the suspension of Voter Registration in the affected areas.
