WIZKID BECOMES FIRST AFRICAN ARTIST TO SURPASS 12 BILLION SPOTIFY STREAMS.

Nigerian Afrobeats artist, Wizkid has become the first African artiste to record more than 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credited appearances.

A music statistics account, WizStatz, revealed that the figure covers streams from songs in which Wizkid is credited as either the lead artiste or a featured performer, including his solo releases, collaborations and guest appearances on tracks by other musicians.

WizKid’s streaming success has been driven partly by collaborations with international artistes, particularly his appearance on One Dance, featuring British singer, Kyla, which achieved worldwide success.

Another major contributor to his global recognition is Essence, featuring Nigerian singer, Tems, which was released in 2020 as part of Wizkid’s fourth studio album, ‘Made in Lagos’, and gained further international attention in 2021 following the release of a remix featuring Canadian singer, Justin Bieber.
